For doulas taking their first clients, and doulas who have been at it for years

Your training taught you the business. This is where you run it.

Doula business courses hand you a checklist. Write a service agreement. Set your fees. Find a way to get paid. Keep client records somewhere safe. Know what came in this year. Doula Villages is where every item on that list lives, in the same place as the care work you do with each client.

The checklist, and where each item lives

You have probably seen some version of this list. Here is where each piece goes.

  1. Your service agreement

Fill in our guided service agreement, or upload the one you already use. Send it to your client and keep the signed copy with their record. On Premier your client signs online. On Introductory you sign it together in person.

  2. Your fees

Your fees live in your agreement: a flat fee, an hourly rate, a rate per visit, a package of visits or hours, or a sliding scale, plus a deposit if you take one. You set the amounts. We hold them in writing.

  3. Getting paid

Send an invoice and your client gets a private pay link, no sign in needed. They pay by card straight into your own Stripe account, or by Zelle, Venmo or check, the way you already accept. We take no cut.

  4. Following up on late payments

Switch on overdue reminders and an invoice that goes past due gets a short nudge with its pay link, at most twice, a week apart. After that it is yours to follow up.

  5. Scheduling

Turn on your booking link, set your hours and how long sessions run, and share it. Your client picks a day and a time, you both get a calendar invite, and you each get a reminder the day before.

  6. Client records

Each client gets a private space that holds their intake, the people around them, their documents and your conversations. Your session notes stay private to you and the doulas in your practice. The family never sees them.

  7. Keeping each client moving

Every client has a short next steps list that ticks itself off as things happen: terms accepted, contract signed, intake done, directive shared. Add steps of your own. Your client list shows how far along each one is.

  8. Bookkeeping

Practice reports show what is outstanding and what came in, for this month, last month, this year or all time, matching your invoices to the dollar. Download a CSV and hand it to your bookkeeper.

  9. Looking like a business

On Premier, your logo and your colors are on the space your clients sign in to. Your business name is there on every plan.

What we leave to you

We will not tell you what to charge, whether to form an LLC, or how to handle your taxes. Your training, your mentors and your accountant are the right people for those decisions. Once you have made them, Doula Villages keeps them running: the agreement goes out, the invoice gets paid, and the numbers are ready for your bookkeeper.

Your practice, in one place

Business and care, side by side, for every client you sit with.
